In 1999, the Prada Group acquired Church’s, leveraging its expertise in artisanal excellence to improve the brand’s marketing strategies and elevate it to even greater heights. Despite these changes, Church’s remained committed to its traditional English identity and dedication to craftsmanship.

The history of J.M. Weston traces back to Limousin, a region with a rich tradition in tanning and leatherwork, towards the end of the 19th century. In 1891, helped by his son, Édouard Blanchard, established a shoe manufacturing business for both men and women.

For over 120 years, J.M. Weston has been a traditional shoemaker that fearlessly enhances and reimagines classic styles. With exceptional craftsmanship from its Limoges factory, the brand evolves while remaining timeless. Every new style, leather, and manufacturing detail is conceived in their workshops to elevate comfort and style. J. M. Weston‘s expertise is showcased through their creations that blend traditional techniques and craftsmanship, passed down from their remarkable history. The shoes are the product of skilled men and women, with over 195 employees working in the Limoges workshops. Each model requires over 150 procedures, including leather cutting, stitching, sole cutting, assembly, and hand finishing. The process takes two months to complete, and attention to detail is paramount. From cotton thread to calfskin lining and leather reinforcements, every model is crafted with precision. While some details may not be visible, they can be felt, making each J.M. Weston shoe a testament to quality craftsmanship.
